5 Tips for a Better Interview Process
If you want to hire the best people, you have to make sure you know exactly what you need. Us T2 Group recruiters spend a number of hours working with hiring managers to create detailed job descriptions, job specific interview questions, interview score cards and detailed feedback. We also look for specific qualities such as personality, enthusiasm, energy, motivation and a positive attitude. Not only is relevant experience, qualifications and awesome work ethic a major part of our process, but we also want to see if you are a fit for our culture.
As recruiters at T2 Group, we’d like to share some tips on what we look for and how you as a candidate can get a head start.
Put your best foot forward
Your resume is our first impression of you. Spelling errors, bad formatting and irrelevant experience is a total turn off. Write a cover letter – if you are interested in our company, we are interested in you! Put something quirky about you on your resume – it shows you have personality.
Pay attention to detail
Paying attention to detail translates into your work ethic as well. It shows me that you will take the time to make sure your work is high quality for our clients.
Have someone review your resume. A major red flag is spelling errors. Ask a friend to read over your resume as another set of checks and balances before sending off you resume to potential employers which leads us to the next tip.
Sometimes those little things go a long way. For example, write a thank you note after our interview. Follow up if you haven’t heard from me in a couple of days. I am busy reviewing resumes and interviewing and I may not have had the opportunity to circle back. This shows me you are interested in our company.
Have basic knowledge about our company
You’d be surprised how many people interview with almost zero knowledge about what we do. With that said, we also don’t expect you to know every single detail (if you did, you would be running the company!). Working knowledge of what we do, who we do it for, and our services we provide, is key. If you don’t know, ask clarifying questions to deepen your knowledge. Take it a step further by summarizing that thought and repeat it to ensure you truly understand.
Be genuine
“Don’t bull***t a bull****ter”. We can play a mean game of poker, but that’s not what we want to hear from a potential candidate. Be real with us and the others you interview with. We want to get to know you, your personality and experience so we can make sure this is a good fit for both parties.
Because we are in the healthcare business, it is the utmost importance that we hire honest, reliable and trustworthy people.
Dress for Success
When you come onsite for an interview or whether it be a video call – dress up. It shows respect and professionalism. Our employees are the face of our company and we want them to be dressed for success.
In the end, we are professionals who like to have a laugh here and there. Our culture is just as important as the work you do. We are a small but mighty firm. We compete with the best and we provide the world class solutions for our clients. We have several opportunities to further your career whether you’re an engineer, project manager or a high-level executive. If you don’t see your dream position listed on our career pages, let us know! We are ALWAYS looking for good people and GREAT talent.
